Beekeepers of Nochistlán.
The objective was the help the organization of a group of beekeepers in order to coordinate their productive and commercial activity through a business, facilitating their access to financing at a lower annual rate of 6%.
The new beekeeping business in the south of Zacatecas has its own registered commercial brand for honey and other products from the beehive.
In collaboration with the Center of Design Promotion, we worked on the name and label of the brand that had been conceptualized in order to highlight the properties of seasonal honey such as mesquite, baraduz, and multi-flower honey. At the same time, with the assistance of the chemistry department of the UNAM (Autonomous University of Mexico), we checked the high-quality characteristics of the region’s honey due to the low humidity and the pollution-free environment, characteristic of the south of Zacatecas.
With the support of the Federation of Clubs of Zacatecans in the South of California, through the 3x1 Program and Alliance for the Countryside, the beekeepers constructed and equipped an extraction and packaging room, observing the characteristics that SAGARPA and SENASICA advise for good management of bee-related products.
Resources: The members of the beekeeping organization contributed money and work. MIDE-ac through the Interamerican Organization granted a loan and financed promotional activities and training in conjunction with INDESOL, the Federation of Clubs of Zacatecans in the South of California, the municipal, state, and federal governments. Close to $1,720,000.00 in resources were channeled between 2006 and 2009 to stimulate the social business model in this municipality with a high index of out-migration.
